Day 192- Kitchen Backsplash

Back to our local tile supplier, this was another finish we vacillated on for months. What shape did we want, what color, what size, what grout? Important things to think about. We were drawn to this elongated hexagon tile, and picked up samples locally, as well as mail ordered samples from a different supply house.

Our choices changed once we had most of the big mess cleaned, and natural light was flowing in. The cotton matte was our original choice, but we opted for the cotton gloss once we had the samples up to our walls.

Finishing is important, and we needed a pencil tile to finish edges at the end of the counter, and around our window.

Juggling samples, lots and lots of samples. It is tough to get a feel for the overall tone with such small pieces, but it is what you have to go on.

We laid out a mock up across the entire long counter to gauge our edges, we wanted to avoid small pieces at any termination. Starting in one corner, and working our way out.

It was a priority to get our sink operational, as we didn’t have a working kitchen sink for 111 days of living in the house. Yeah, it was time!

One happy day! Our RO, remote button, touch-less faucet, soap dispenser, and air gap all operational.

Grout is always a mess, but sponging this clean was so rewarding.

This part of the counter is ready to use! Time to start unpacking our boxes.
