So enough is enough. This motion sensing switch cracked after a few years, and the push button was hardly usable. We never leave the lights on to need the “off” feature, so we opted for a regular switch in its place.

After turning off the power, it is time to remove the wall plate and pull out the switch. Surprise! The ground wire was never installed! So much for new construction…

The new non-powered switch is hooked up, and the power wire has been capped off.

One of the downsides of replacing single fixtures is that they are always different. The new switch has just enough difference that the fitment is a little off from its neighbor. Oh well… Power turned on and the new switch is working perfectly.
 

Have you ever needed more outlet space, but don’t have room to add another set? We weren’t crazy about ripping the drywall out and installing a two gang junction block. The solution for us was a new two plug/two USB outlet.It was as simple as relocating the GFCI to the other side of the bathroom, and installing the new outlet.
